 Linux LogD 1.0.0.6

February 2, 2004

I've now learnt my way around linux well enough to compile the linux version of logd myself. Many thanks to Da Rope and i3839 for their patience and help. An updated version of the windows version and the new linux version are on the downloads page for you.

At the Suggestion of a couple of users the new logd 1.0.0.6 has a new cvar, logd_version which allows you to see the logd version and tell if servers have logd installed from server browsers. I hope it helps.

 An Update and LogD 1.0.0.6

January 24, 2004

Well its certainly been a long time since the last update. People have asked if this is because LogD is a dead project. The answer is that LogD isn't dead, just finished and the developers are sadly busy with real life, apart from kndroc who's disappeared...

Here it is, LogD 1.0.0.6. Its not a major update of anything so if your LogD is working then you may as well stick with it what this update does give you is the abilty to use logd with steam because it has been compiled against the latest metamod (1.17 at the time of writing) and the updated HLSDK files with the new engine interface.

Unfortunately the Linux binary for 1.0.0.6 is having problems. Or more properly some people are having problems with it. I say some people because it is only some people. If it were clearly broken on all system i'd chalk it up as a bad job and try again but it works on some linux boxes and not on others. Quite why this is is yet to be determined. For you linux users out there all i can do is apologise and ask that you give it a try, if it doesn't work then i'm sorry and i hope the issue will be found and resolved as soon as possible. The good news is that the windows binary is perfect as usual.

I should also apologise to you all for not keeping the plugins page up to date. Sorry. It is difficult to test logd without having a server though. If the plugins provided don't work for you then all i can suggest is that you look for replacements or updated version. Here are some good places to look.

Thats all for now. In future i hope to get the linux version working properly and possibly add a logd_version cvar so you can see if logd is installed on the server from server viewers. Thanks to [WING]BlackKnight, GXTi, netniV and i3839 from the #AdminMod channel on Gamesnet for their help with this return to LogD and for their continued bothering me to update things until i gave in. I'll get you all back, you just wait.

 Damn french people...

November 2, 2002

Yeah, so it turns out that Djeyl isnt the swiftest of french people. It would seem that he released the debug version of the 1.00.5 win32 DLL, which explains why all you win32 people are having issues. Hopefully, I will not have too fix all his mistakes all the time =) (Thanks to the ever whinning SR71Goku for hitting the compile button for me.)
Since I am here, I might as well tell everyone that we do have plans to improve LogD in the future. The only problem is that as of now, we are all burned out from AM v2.50.50 and all I want to do is sleep and spend some quality time with the ladies. I would suggest to start checking back here around early 2003.
Ciao.

 Minor update

September 17,2002

Someone managed to overflow LogD with big player IDs when the server had a great uptime. Maximum size was then set to 6 digits instead of 4 ; it gave this version : 1.00.5 (available on download page as usual).

A single source package is also available, that is pretty simple to compile under Linux (optionally with a cross-compiler to build Win32 .dll) or Win32 with MinGW32.
